Section titled “Requirements”| Unreal Engine | 5.8.0 or later |
| Platform | Windows 64-bit only |
| Windows version | Windows 10 build 18362 (version 1903) or later — required for ConPTY |

Install the plugin
Section titled “Install the plugin”From Fab
Section titled “From Fab”Install Conductor Terminal to your engine version from the Epic Games Launcher, then enable it in
your project. The launcher places it under
<EngineRoot>/Engine/Plugins/Marketplace/ConductorTerminal.
From a zip
Section titled “From a zip”-
Close the Unreal Editor.
-
Unzip
ConductorTerminal_5.8.zipso thatConductorTerminal.upluginends up at:<YourProject>/Plugins/ConductorTerminal/ConductorTerminal.upluginCreate the
Pluginsfolder if your project does not have one. -
Reopen the project. If prompted to rebuild modules, accept.
Verify it loaded
Section titled “Verify it loaded”Open Edit → Plugins and search for Conductor Terminal. It should appear under Developer Tools, enabled, version 1.0.0, by Reality Shift LLC.
Enable the MCP dependencies
Section titled “Enable the MCP dependencies”Conductor Terminal’s agent features are built on Epic’s own MCP stack. Two engine plugins have to be enabled:
- Model Context Protocol — the local MCP server the editor exposes.
- Toolset Registry — the registry the plugin publishes its agent tools into.
Both are listed as dependencies in the .uplugin, so enabling Conductor Terminal normally enables
them for you. The plugin’s settings page — Edit → Editor Preferences → Plugins → Conductor
Terminal — carries a readiness section under Unreal MCP Client Config that runs three checks
and offers a Fix button for each one that fails:
| Check | What it means | What Fix does |
|---|---|---|
| MCP plugin enabled | ModelContextProtocol is on in the project. |
Enables the plugin in your .uproject. Needs an editor restart. |
| Auto Start Server | The MCP server starts with the editor rather than waiting to be started by hand. | Turns the option on in your editor preferences. Takes effect on the next editor launch. |
| Toolsets enabled | Epic’s toolset plugins (the AllToolsets aggregator) are on, so the agent gets the full editor surface and not just Conductor Terminal’s tools. The row shows N/M enabled. |
Enables the AllToolsets plugin in your .uproject. Needs an editor restart. |
Server address
Section titled “Server address”On UE 5.8+ the editor’s MCP server is configured under Edit → Editor Preferences → Plugins → Model Context Protocol:
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Server Port Number | 8000 |
| Server URL Path | /mcp |
Which gives an endpoint of http://127.0.0.1:8000/mcp. Conductor Terminal reads these two values
rather than assuming them, so if you change the port the generated agent configs follow.
First run
Section titled “First run”Open the terminal from Tools → Conductor Terminal → Conductor Terminal 1, press Alt+F2, or
click the Conductor Terminal button in the editor’s status bar to flick open the drawer. You
should get a PowerShell prompt in your project directory.
If you get a blank pane or an error instead, head to Troubleshooting.
Optional: install psmux
Section titled “Optional: install psmux”psmux is a Windows-native, PowerShell-based terminal multiplexer. It is not bundled and the plugin will never install it for you. You only need it if you want PSMux Workspace mode, where shells keep running in the background and survive an editor restart.
winget install marlocarlo.psmuxOr download it from github.com/psmux/psmux. If you prefer to work inside WSL, tmux inside the distribution does the same job.
The plugin finds psmux through PATH and where.exe — there is no sweep of install folders, so if
you installed it somewhere unusual, add that folder to your PATH. Detection runs once per
editor process, so after installing psmux restart the editor to pick it up.
